Hump Day Treat

Well it is finally here again, Wednesday! a.k.a. Hump Day, as we are all getting over the hump at this point and ready for anything but more work or school on Thursday and Friday and just want the weekend to begin any time soon!

I still have one more class to attend for today, but it is my cheesecake class (as in, this class is so flippin easy I could do it with my hands tied behind my back writing my notes with my mouth EASY! class.) so I'm optimistic as to how the rest of the day will turn out.

However, some bad news out of Russia today, turns out this really smoking hot female bodyguard got killed during a carjacking in Moscow. If you're a female bodyguard, even if you do drive a Porsche, you should be able to prevent yourself from getting carjacked. Anywho, here's a link to the story

Interesting Article for NCAA Football D-I playoff

this was an article submitted by a community member from the Zanesville Times Recorder in Zanesville, Ohio.

Eight-team playoff needed for D-I collegiate football

As a Buckeye fan the past two seasons have been great; the title games not so much. As a college football fan, it has been disheartening to watch great football teams year after year unable to have the opportunity to determine on the field who is the best team in the country.

Major college football needs a playoff. I propose an eight-team playoff that will not affect the bowl games, would not play games during December exams, and still end the season with a title game about a week after New Year's Day.

The last weekend in November would be reserved for the most deserving eight teams to play the first round of a playoff. The four winning teams would play in two New Year's Day BCS bowl games, with the bowl winners playing in a national title game about a week later.

Here are some specifics: The BCS conferences will get an automatic bid for their champion provided that they play a conference title game (i.e. ACC, SEC, Big 12) or all teams in the conference play each other (i.e. Big East, Pac 10). The Big 10 should be able to conform to one of those to get the automatic bid. The other two spots will go to the highest ranked team not from a BCS conference and the highest ranked team not among the seven teams already selected.

The four highest ranked teams from different conferences would host the other four teams. The highest seed would be matched with the lowest seeded team not from the same conference, and so on. The four winners would be matched by the same method for the New Year's Day bowl games.

The Rose, Sugar, Orange, and Fiesta bowls could rotate who gets the two "playoff" games or base it on which bowl has a relationship with the league of the highest ranked teams in the match ups (i.e. Rose with Pac 10 and Big 10). Seven to 10 days after New Year's Day, the title game would be played.

As far as the regular season, it would be 13 weeks ending with the next to last weekend in November. Teams would be allowed to play a total of 12 regular season games. Conferences with a title game would play 11 regular season games and then match up the teams from each division top to bottom and play games on the last regular season weekend.

One year the north division would host all the games and the next year the south so that schools know they are home or away that last weekend; just not sure who the opponent is until the week before. Most teams in the country would still play 12 games. Most schools going to a bowl game would play 13, six of the best teams in the country would play 14, and the best two teams in the country would play 15 games.

Just like now, you would have people flocking to 30-some bowl games, knowing it has no bearing on who wins the national title, and one January game that still crowns the national champion. The difference is, instead of a system picking the most deserving two teams (not best two teams like Georgia and USC this year) to play in a title game, the system would pick the most deserving eight teams and they would decide the champion on the field.

The BSC is better than the "lack of a system" before it came along, but it is also not what anyone associated with or a fan of college football deserves. It's time for a playoff, and if the presidents of the universities used some of their knowledge, I'm sure they could find a way to do it and still preserve the bowl tradition - of money.

I'm Going Semi-Pro!

Will Ferrell has done it again and it is going to be the longest wait ever to see Semi-Pro on February 25th.

Will Ferrell plays Jackie Moon, an owner-player-coach of the ABA's Flint Tropics. Co-starring Woody Harrelson, Andre "3000" Benjamin, and a whole bunch of other crazy characters where hilarity should ensue. I watched the two trailers on Youtube and loved it! It had my roommate rolling on the floor.

Now Introducing.....Big Blue!

Big blue is back in action and better than ever! A friend of mine stopped by and put in a new starter on Big Blue (My baby, my first truck, my F-150) it is back in business and ready for action!

After a week and a half of being down because I am unable to do anything mechanically without completely destroying whatever it is I am trying to fix, a friend of my Fiancee's came over and fixed it for me (thank you to both of you, you are great).

We thanked him with a big Italian dinner and had a few beers, it was a great day in all. We watched this comedian, Daniel Tosh...and wow, that guy is the next coming of Dennis Miller, only he's more willing to say even worse things about people. His skit about the special olympics was especially bad. I think my fiancee wanted to go to confession after it was over (and she's not even Catholic!).

Went to work and saw the Wright State Raiders women's team take down Butler at home 70-65. The men's team was on the road and recorded an exciting 66-57 win over Detroit. And other than that, I have only one thing to say to you. HERE COMES BIG BLUE!

Odd Day In Paradise

Boy was today an odd one. Probably the weirdest Thursday to date. It started out well, had an easy time with my Geology 106 lab. The prof. in that lab is such a pushover it isn't even funny! He gave us the answers and let us go home! I'm not complaining though, if it weren't for him, I'd probably be failing.

Then I went to my other class which actually pertains to my major, and learned a whole lot less and wasted two more hours of my day, not that I had anything better to do. My truck (Big Blue as I like to call her) is still out of commission until I can install a new starter in her. Hopefully that chance comes tomorrow before work. So I got a ride to work about two hours earlier than I had to be there (the odd stuff begins!) I hung out in Sam's Club for an hour and a half, and then went into work early. The odd crap just blew up right then and there, I messed up a few transactions, some customers came in cranky and ready to start stuff (nothing new in our store, as we deal with a colossal group of morons day to day), but everything they needed just didn't seem to flow right or have any sort of meaning to it. It was just busywork that sucked!!!

Sports note: The X games is retarded. Seeing how far you can fling your snowmobile into the air and live sounds dumb, and there is no athletic skill required. You land by a thing called GRAVITY and by LUCK you land back on your snowmobile/skis/snowboard etc. because God doesn't think it is your time to go yet. In other news, the NBA all star starters were announced, and for once I have no arguments here.

and to finish this boring entry off....I'll give you some pics of my odd brother.

he's an ex-marine with not a lot on his plate right now.

R.I.P. Heath Ledger

This entry will start off by saying Rest In Peace to Heath Ledger, you will be missed.

Yesterday was just weird weird weird! Missed my ride to school and had to walk there, which wasn't bad considering the weather was much warmer than it was this weekend, then once I found a way to get a ride to work, my buddy called to tell me the news about Heath. Wow! I was really shocked. For the first time ever when a celebrity has died, I have been shocked.

Not when 2pac died, not when Biggie Died, not when Big Pun, or Malik Sealy, or Sean Taylor died was I as shocked as I was to hear about Heath Ledger. While all those deaths were awful, this one came out of nowhere and really stunned me. He seemed like not the type to take pills, but then again that hasn't been proven so I'll leave it up to the coroner to decide what the real cause of death ways, but anyways R.I.P.

This weekend was alright on Sunday, the Patriots beat the crap out of the mouthiest team in the NFL, the San Diego Crybabies...I mean the San Diego Chargers.

Then the nightcap, it did kind of suck to see Brett Favre lose in the NFC Championship game, although I do feel alright for Eli Manning, he is finally living up to all the hype. He can finally step out from behind his daddy and older brothers' shadow for a change, and that is nice to see. I do hope that they beat the Patriots, but man, they are just on fire.

I went to Columbus with my fiancee to meet the parents for a little dinner Sunday night at Abuelo's in Easton. It was a good night of beers and mexican food. Good times. I can't wait to do it all again in the future. Well thats about all I have for the mean time, I'll update you with any more rants or raves real soon.

Adios

and oh yeah,

The NBA is boring as usual, so until something cool happens there, I won't be posting on it. Hopefully something happens soon, otherwise, wait for my superbowl prediction.
