Snow Days

22 years old and still reaping the benefits of a snow day.

we only got an inch or two but the ice coming this afternoon caused the university to close early. So I took advantage by sleeping in until noon. I have work at 3 p.m. so this should be a fun ride into the office and a fun ride home tonight around 11.

here's some hilarious video for you

Everyone Saw This Coming....

With National Signing Day taking place today, the one guy everyone is hoping and praying comes to their school, isn't on ESPN2 signing a letter of intent for Michigan, Ohio State, or Penn State, he's in Happy Valley taking his FIFTH visit to Penn State. Nothing wrong with visits or anything like that. The fact remains that Terrelle Pryor is a great talent and any team would be happy to have him, I sure as heck would if I were a coach. However, everyone being so surprised that he isn't signing today is naive. I saw this coming a mile away. He wants all eyes to be on him and he is going to do his picking at the very last minute and it will most likely be once he finds out that he is the ONLY undecided player left in America to sign to a major college football program. The kid loves the media love fest, and can you really blame him? Not many 18 year olds get the chance to have colleges diving over one another at their feet to come play ball for them. That is a pretty special thing to be dealing with when you're a senior in High School. Let's face it, the rest of us were diving at the feet of some girl in English class hoping she'll pick us as her Prom Date in May. This kid has every major Media outlet in the Midwest dropping and running to his side every time he breathes. That is pretty exciting. My final thought on all this is that wherever he goes, he will be a special talent and his team will be very successful. He may be playing on everyone's emotions right now, but he's still an 18 year old kid who is going to go to college and be a productive member of both the football team and society. He is not the headcase that was Maurice Clarrett, the drama queen that was O.J. Mayo, nor the next coming of Jesus Christ himself like we thought ESPN might crown LeBron James with. He's more of the Tim Tebow like class, everyone wants him to shine, and that is fantastic. So here's to a good 3 or 4 years to whoever manages to snag this special athlete.

Game Update!

Wright State 53, UW-Milwaukee 51!!!

With under four-second left in the game, Vaughn Duggins drove towards the hoop and sent a scoop shot off the glass and lifted the Wright State men's basketball team to a Horizon League victory over Milwaukee, 53-51. The Raiders led by seven with 12 minutes left, but made the final shot of the game count to win their fifth straight game.

In the first half the Raiders never led, despite holding the rebound advantage over the Panthers (20-16). The Panthers connected on four three pointers and led by as many as six in the first stanza. Wright State turned the ball over seven times in the first half and Milwaukee held an 18-10 advantage in points in the paint.

Despite that, Duggins hit a running layup as time expired to cut Milwaukee's lead to 31-28 at the half. Duggins scored ten in the first half for WSU to lead all scorers and Scottie Wilson pulled down eight boards to lead the way.

The Panthers started the second half with a pair of layups to extend their lead to seven points, but WSU would counter with a 17-3 run over the next six minutes to gain a seven point advantage with 11:48 remaining in the game.

Duggins hit a three pointer to push WSU ahead 45-38 before a media timeout at the 11:32 mark and held a slim advantage coming down the stretch. WSU never trailed over the final 11 minutes, but UWM's Marcus Skinner tipped in a missed shot from Ricky Franklin to knot the contest at 51-51 with ten second remaining in the contest.

WSU wasted no time bringing the ball into the front court as Will Graham crossed the time line and found Duggins on the wing. Duggins took the ball to the top of the key and spun into the lane before sending a scoop shot off the backboard, off the front of the rim and through with :00.4 seconds left on the clock.

A last chance shot from Milwaukee fell just short and WSU held on to win their fifth straight league game.

Duggins netted a game-high 17 points in the game and grabbed four rebounds in 38 minutes of playing time. Wilson posted his second double-double of the season as he scored 13 points, eight in the second half, and pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds.

Wright State will return to home action on Monday, February 4 as they host a non-league contest with Presbyterian. That game will start at 7:00 in the Ervin J. Nutter Center.

Super Bowl Weekend

Hola mis amigos!

Coming to you live from the Thunderdome, it is I! It's Super Bowl Weekend and I hope everyone is enjoying the greatest weekend in football. The game should shape up to be just as good as the commercials we will see. Well, I should say YOU will see. I'll be working 4-10 and will miss pretty much the whole game. Ah well, my Panthers aren't in it so I'm not that worried about it.

Getting ready to head to the Nut House for Wright State Men's Basketball vs. UW-Milwaukee in a HUGE league match-up in the Horizon League. The Raiders come in off the heels of a big win Thursday night at home over UW-Green Bay and will look to knock off the third place Panthers of UWM tonight. (Updates to come later tonight when I get back)

Meanwhile, Big Blue's recovery is going along nicely, however some sort of panel fell off of it Wednesday night as I was leaving for class. I was none too pleased. I still don't know what it was a panel for and just hope my truck can run fine without it until I can figure out where it goes and how it needs to be put back on! But she's still rolling along strong despite losing some luggage!

Alright, thats all I have for right now, and oh yeah....

here's your song of the day
